Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. On the 21st of October, 2016 she debuted Pho, her debut EP for the label Dreamville Records. That was the day she first gained the attention of her peers. Her first album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012, with the debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her single Bound and the mixtape she self-released, Five Finger Discount. Sweat It is part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time was interested in having her work on Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs. The 8th of December was the day she announced that she was signed to Dreamville Records. The singer appeared on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. In October 21st, 2016, her debut EP was released under the name Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing as part of her own 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as opening artist. In 2018, she went on to appear on two of her songs along with labelmates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. A music video later released in September. On November 9 she dropped two more singles, 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. On November 13 she then came out with two additional singles, The No One or Pedigree. Then she appeared in the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track entitled Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single on February 26 2019 for her debut album of the same name. In February of 2019, her music video to the track debuted. The song has received over 3 million YouTube views within a week. The singer was a part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
